@thesparitan Chompsky argues that the Media is right wing only because they are incorporated. I don’t disagree that the media serves the interest of business, but unlike Chompsky i reject the left-right dichotomy and so the idea of the Media being right wind is as wrong-headed as it being left-wing.
Chomsky would absolutely agree. He is not a supporter of Obama by any means, and not on his ’side’. He would probably note that Obama offered very few explanations, even of the crazy kind, though.
Manifest treason! Has spoken like a traitor, and shall answer as traitors do. Therefore lay hold of him; bear him to the rock Tarpeian, and from thence into destruction cast him. He shall be thrown down the Tarpeian rock with rigorous hands: he hath resisted law, and therefore law shall scorn him further trial than the severity of the public power which he so sets at nought. AEdiles, seize him!

The Black Panthers? ACORN?
Whatever these groups have done pales in comparison to the crimes of the conservative ruling class.
False wars; Ronald Reagan’s union busting beginning the downward spiral of the middle & working classes; Ronald Reagan’s transfer of American wealth to the already-wealthy. Today, the legacy of such a program is the greatest wealth disparity in 100 years.
I used your paranoid words to display the idiocy of your position.
And aren’t you proud of the conservative Supreme Court decision to allow corporations unlimited influence in elections? That is the ideology to which you subscribe in action.
The quote is historical. It applies to people like you. Bought & sold by money.
You think because Brown won the MA Senate seat it’s going to end the harm “liberals” have done to America? … the porn, the generational welfare recipients, the drug addicts?
More importantly, you should be proud that the conservative Supreme Court just gave away the American electoral process to the influence of corporations.
We are back in the late 19th century when industrialist Jay Gould said “I can buy one half of the working class to kill the other half of the working class.”
Chomsky said: “I’m irrelevant! Listen to the great Dr. Michael Savage, as he’s America’s greatest radio talk-show host and he will lead you out of the darkness and the mess that I and so many other fools from the hippy-dippy days have created!”
@bapyou Huh? Unending frustration? What are you talking about? Did you not take note of what happened in Massachusetts the other day? The most liberal state in the country, yet the voters said enough to the thinkers of your ilk!
This man is not a “liberal” in the way the term is commonly understood, and his criticisms of America and Israel are damn right. What he’s telling people is that the things all the elites are doing are bad for the traditional base of America. Democrats have never offered solutions with their idealistic naivete and continuation of Bush era neoliberal/neocon policies, and supposed “conservatives” are offering quick-fix dangerous solutions and this is cause for concern. He’s right, like usual.
Chomsky is a populist in certain regards. He doesn’t despise the provincialism ( “xenophobic” libertarianism”) of the American right. What he is criticizing is the misinformation offered by some of our leaders. He is not writing from a partisan perspective. If anything he puts the actual grievances of Weimar in an almost flattering light. He understands that Americans right now are being marginalized, having elitist liberal ideals like race egalitarianism imposed onto them.
he is not comparing Limbaugh to Hitler (i might, though).
he is comparing the situation allowing the nazis to become so powerful to the situation today; in which desperate people are offered ridiculous solutions and, with no other options, the public welcomes the support and a list of the people they ca collectively blame. by default, he criticizes the “left-wing” media for not offering an answer to peoples fears that is not eccentric and mutated but still true, yet strong and believable.

that doesnt make sense what you just said

respect to you mr Chomsky !!
me too, do not pay attention to his words, but the tone of his voice
Keith Olberman and Michael moore are both incorporated, they must be right wing nazis too.
Was Obama not an “answer”? Are these type of arguments not being bandied by both sides?
wow i admire Mr Chomsky

You’re a goddamned fool.
@bapyo What a moron. You have the nerve to reference the S.C. when the outrage of appointing the brown racist Sodomayor is still fresh in many minds!
And to top it off, you have the utter stupidity to actually suggest that election fraud is something that applies to Conservatives! What a dick!
Have you not heard about what the black panthers did in Philadelphia? Have you not heard about what ACORN did?
Judas priest! Please grow a brain and read some books and then get back to me in 50 year!!!

shut the fuck up chomsky
@rujiel17 I think you mean to say, “very wise and selective perception.”
@ludo77ln
Yes; I can help!

That you’d combine a vague “moral decline” with a general political direction is indicative of very selective perception.

@guyNbluejeans
“liberals have done so much harm with their cancer. Porn, generational welfare recipients, drug addicts, and on and on it goes.”
Porn?? Are you serious? That’s your first example of “harm”? People having sex on camera?
